SolarEdge Battery: my battery drained completely and didn't save power for an outage
If your battery was empty when the power went out, it was likely set to use all of its charge to power your home every day.
Why this happens
- Backup reserve set to 0% or very low: The battery can discharge all the way down during normal use.
- Self-consumption or time-of-use mode: These modes use the battery daily to lower your bill.
- Cloudy days or high usage: The battery may not have recharged fully before the outage.
How to be better prepared
- Raise the backup reserve percentage in the mySolarEdge app so some charge is always saved for outages.
- Before a big storm, switch to a backup-focused mode so the battery stays full.
- During an outage, limit large loads like AC, dryers, and ovens to stretch your battery.
If the battery didn't power your home at all during an outage, or shows an error, call or text us at 806-454-7873.
