SolarEdge App: consumption monitoring & smart meter numbers don't match
It's common for the numbers in the mySolarEdge app to differ from your utility bill or smart meter. That doesn't automatically mean something is wrong.
Why the numbers can differ
- Different meters: Your utility meter measures what you buy from and send to the grid. The app measures what your solar produces and, if installed, what your home uses.
- Different time periods: Your billing cycle rarely lines up with calendar months in the app.
- No consumption meter: If your system doesn't have a SolarEdge consumption meter, the app only shows production — not home usage.
- Monitoring gaps: If the inverter lost Wi-Fi or cellular connection, the app may be missing data (see KM-411).
What you can check
- Compare the same dates on your bill and in the app.
- Look for gaps or flat zero days in the app's production history.
- If the app shows home usage as zero, negative, or the same as production, the consumption meter may need a technician to check its setup.
